About me

ליאור ניר

My journey to taking my position behind the lens started ten years ago.

I'll start off by saying that I don't know the meaning of the words 'letting go'. I was injured during regular service in the army and after a long struggle of rehabilitation, fought to go back to serve my country in reserve duty during the draft of the second Lebanon War.

Armed with an amateur camera, I witnessed every moment while Iimmortalized my friends, minutes before they lost their lives. These were their final moments, and I was there to capture them and help their families with that one last memory/

I myself was severly injured during the battle, and doctors were worried that if I made it through, I'd lose my eye sight forever. I didn’t give up. I made it through the other side and realised that this was my life's calling - to be behind the lens and help others make a memory. I did, however, decide to focus of the happy moments in life - weddings, maternity, family togetherness and all kinds of events. As I see it (literally), every moment is worth taking in, and you don't need a special occasion to stop by and appreciate what you have. Taking a picture is like taking the chance to revisit that happy moment again in the future, and in our family we take the time to document, print and save these happy moments for generations to come - a practice that's a bit gone from the world these days but one that I strongly advocate.

Ever since I started, I've captured hundred of events, which is my greatest joy - to take part in people's happy life and capture that moment from them.

In an interview I once said that “It’s a dream come true to fulfill this passion, it’s a feeling that cannot be explained. My sight has been hurt, but when you want something like I did, you make it work. At the observation point where I was injured I took photos because I felt as if something was going to happen. Today I know this is what I was destined to do." As it happened, the day the article was published a very special someone read the paper and she 'just knew this will be my husband'. And so it happened that from the day the article was posted in 2008, I've been with Natalie, now my wife and mother of my favorite little model, my son, Lenny.
